Next Stop: National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida!

Congratulations on a successful year and a fulfilling State Business Leadership Conference! Your state leadership team commends all of our chapters and members for your many successes, triumphs, and achievements this year!

The next level of opportunity in Phi Beta Lambda is the chance to represent our state at the National Leadership Conference. This event brings together the very best members from all over the nation to participate in competitive events, attend top level leadership training, and select the student leaders who will represent us at the national level for the next year. This year’s National Leadership Conference (NLC) will be held in Orlando, Florida, at the Hilton Orlando hotel. The conference will start on June 23 and run through June 26. The optional Institute for Leaders will be held in conjunction with the NLC and will run on June 22 & 23.

There is a lot of information and a lot of deadlines coming up quickly in order to have California well represented at NLC. Please be sure to read all guidelines carefully. If, at any time you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact a member of the state staff or state officer team.

PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE
Please advise your members that the Parliamentary Procedure event is a team performance event at NLC. California may enter two teams of up to 5 people per team in this event. All those who qualified at SBLC are eligible to compete, in addition to 5 other members. Teams may be comprised of members from any chapter! If any of your members are interested in competing on one of the two Parliamentary Procedure teams, please indicate so on the INTENT forms.

PROJECT EVENTS WILL HAVE A PERFORMANCE COMPONENT AT NLC
Members should be advised that all individual, team, and chapter project events (except the Local Chapter Annual Business Report) will have a performance component at NLC. Each event will be judged based on both pre-submitted materials and the performance at the NLC. Please see the NLC Competitive Event Guidelines for details and rating sheets.

NOTE: For all events allowing equipment to be used during the performance, the equipment must be provided by the individual and/or team except for E-business, and Web Site Development.

COMPETITIVE EVENTS
Please submit your request to compete for skill events by April 29th, 2011 to NLC@capbl.org. In the email, please include an email address and phone number for each of the students requesting for a skill test.

Substitutions for Competitors – If the event is a team event, your school may substitute no more than one (1) member of the team. If more than one member of the team must be changed, then the opportunity to compete will pass to the next school in line.
